Boasting higher thickness and durability, coupled with its non-toxic and food-grade properties, heavy gauge aluminum foil will withstand a lot of wear and tear. Because of its high level of puncture and tear resistance, it is often deemed as the perfect material for more heavy duty applications.
ALCOM’s fin stocks are available in bare and coated finishes. This versatility enables manufacturers to enhance the look and feel of their product designs. Coated finishes are also available in a multitude of colours, including gold, blue, green and transparent; all without compromising on the efficiency of the fin stock.
Aluminium foil is completely impermeable and lets neither light aroma nor taste substances out. Moreover, the metal itself is non-toxic and releases no aroma or taste substances which makes it ideal for packaging sensitive products such as food or pharmaceuticals.
Aluminium is a very light metal with a specific weight of 2.7 g/cm3, about a third that of steel. For example, the use of aluminium in vehicles reduces dead-weight and energy consumption while increasing load capacity. Its strength can be adapted to the application required by modifying the composition of its alloys.
Aluminium is ductile and has a low melting point and density. In a molten condition it can be processed in a number of ways. Its ductility allows products of aluminium to be basically formed close to the end of the product’s design.
Aluminium naturally generates a protective oxide coating and is highly corrosion resistant. Different types of surface treatment such as anodising, painting or lacquering can further improve this property. It is particularly useful for applications where protection and conservation are required.
ALCOM’s Diaphragm or Membrane Foil comes with a lacquered surface approved by the United Stated Food and Drug Administration (FDA), for the food packaging industry. The highest standard on cleanliness and hygiene is maintained in the production of the foil in accordance with the strict requirements of the food industry.
Cable Foil is used for conversion into cable wrap required in the manufacture of telecommunication cable as a moisture barrier. ALCOM’s cable foil is specially made for both the extrusion and lamination process of conversion to cable wrap.
ALCOM’s Plain Foil is also used in the manufacturing of aluminium tapes, containers, packaging materials and many other applications. Its bright surface finish on both sides can be supplied dry for subsequent coating of heat seal or lacquer layers.
